MassDevelopment has sold a half-acre parcel located at Village Hill Northampton to the Wright Builders, Inc., a Northampton-based residential developer, for the company’s next phase of construction at Village Hill’s The Upper Ridge development. This phase, the second of the 28-unit condominium project, will include a three-story 6-unit flats building on Village Hill Road, featuring single-floor living with two units per floor, and a duplex building on Musante Drive. Wright Builders began construction May 5 and expects to complete the buildings within the year.

“Wright Builders has demonstrated success in sustainable development through past residential projects at Village Hill Northampton,” said MassDevelopment President and CEO Marty Jones. “The company has been a valuable partner in the development of Village Hill, and we look forward to the progress of The Upper Ridge project.”

Upon completion, Village Hill Northampton will have transformed a former state hospital property into a community featuring 300,000 square feet of commercial space; 300 market-rate, and affordable homes and apartments; and a variety of open space and recreation areas for enhanced living. Wright Builders has partnered with MassDevelopment and the community on several residential projects, including the Morningside homes, which feature 11 Energy Star and LEED-certified homes that demonstrate New Urbanism neighborhood principles and that commitment to LEED performance continues with the 6 Beechwood homes, 11 Eastview townhomes, and now with the 28 units at The Upper Ridge.

“Working together with MassDevelopment, talented designers, architects, and site designers, along with the visionary planners in Northampton, we have created a new benchmark for sustainable development in the region,” said Wright Builders Founder and Co-Owner Jonathan Wright. “Our buyers love the buildings and lifestyle.”

Wright Builders, Inc., led by founder Jonathan Wright and Executive Vice President Mark Ledwell, has been a leading construction firm in the Northampton area for more than 40 years. The company is committed to sustainable construction, and follows Energy Star and LEED certification standards. Wright Builders building methods, technology, and materials use meet or exceed Federal sustainable development standards including its energy conservation, passive and active solar design, and indoor air quality initiatives.
